These details are as recorded in the Kentucky business register on 17 August 2026. Standing and filings change over time, and we will update this page when we become aware of a change.
For the organisation to confirm: if you check this page against the register on a fixed schedule — for example each year when the statutory annual report is filed — tell us and we will say so here. We have not claimed a routine that has not been agreed.
Our tax status
Àwùjọ Ọmọ Yorùbá is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
That is a statement about our corporate form, not about tax. The two are often assumed to be the same thing and they are not. We do not claim United States federal tax-exempt status, and you should not treat a gift to us as tax deductible. If you need a gift to be deductible for your own tax position, please take your own advice before giving.
If this changes, we will publish the determination on this page, dated, and say so plainly. We would rather turn down a donation than mislead you about its treatment.
What happens to your money
We have not had our accounts audited, so instead here is exactly what happens mechanically when you give us money. All of it is verifiable by doing it.
- Your card details never reach us. Payments are handled entirely by our payment providers; we never see or store a card number.
- From Nigeria, contributions and donations are taken in Naira (₦) and processed by Paystack.
- From anywhere else, they are taken in US dollars ($) and processed by Stripe.
- You get a receipt by email for every successful payment.
- A monthly membership contribution can be cancelled by you, at any time, from your dashboard. You do not have to email us and wait.
- We treat the payment provider as the source of truth, not our own records. A payment is confirmed because the provider that took it says so, not because we decided it had arrived.
What we have not published yet
Not yet published. We have not published our board, our accounts, or an annual report to our members describing what we have done. We would rather say so than put up something we cannot stand behind.
The statutory annual report listed above is a filing Kentucky requires of every corporation — it confirms our registration is current and says nothing about our activities.
If you want to know who is accountable for a decision, or how a particular contribution was used, ask us and we will tell you directly.
How to check us independently
Do not take our word for any of the above. Everything in “Who we are” comes from a public register you can search yourself, under the name AWUJO OMO YORUBA INC.
Search the Kentucky Secretary of State business register for that name — or, more reliably, for our organisation number 1320556 — and you will find the same details listed above.
